At CES 2022, Dell announced 2 new gamer notebooks, the Alienware m15 R7 and Alienware m17 R5, featuring a latest-generation AMD Rembrandt processor with NVIDIA Ampere or AMD RDNA2 graphics card, up to 4K and 360Hz display, SSD storage up to 4TB or Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, all under Windows 11.

L'Alienware m17 R5 is based on a processor AMD Rembrandt APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) Octo Core Ryzen 7 6800H (3.2 GHz), Ryzen 9 6900HX (3.3 GHz) or Ryzen 9 6980HX (3.3 GHz), all with integrated Radeon RDNA2 graphics.

Several dedicated graphics card options are available, including NVIDIA Ampere GeForce RTX 3050 Ti 4 GB GDDR6 dedicated (805W, boost 1695MHz) or GeForce RTX 3060 6 GB GDDR6 (115W, boost 1702MHz) or latest GeForce RTX 3000, or AMD RDNA2 Radeon RX 6700M 10 GB GDDR6 (135W) or Radeon RX 6850M XT 12 GB GDDR6 (175W).

Technology NVIDIA Optimus and AMD SmartShift Max are from the party for automatic real-time switching between the processor's integrated graphics solution and the dedicated graphics card, as and when required.
At the heart of this gamer notebook are up to 64GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM (2 slots) and 2 storage slots. SSD M.2 NVMe PCIe supports SSDs from 256 GB to 4 TB (2 x 2 TB max in RAID).

The Alienware m17 R5 also features a full range of connectors Wi-Fi 6 ax (2×2, Mediatek MT7921) or Wi-Fi 6E ax (2×2, Qualcomm WCN6856), Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI 2.1, headset/microphone combo audio, Gigabit Ethernet (Realtek RTL811H-CG 1 Gb/s with RTX 3050 Ti, Realtek RTL8124BGS 2.5 Gb/s with other GPUs), 3 USB 3.2 (Gen1, 1 PowerShare), 1 USB 3.2 Type-C (Gen2, RTX 3050 Ti only) or 1 USB 4 Type-C (other GPUs).

Cooling is provided by a Alienware Cryo-Tech Cooling with copper heat pipes and air outlets, as well as optional steam chamber (only for Ryzen 9 and RX 6850M XT editions).
On the display side, a 17.3-inch screen anti-glare ComfortView Plus IPS Full HD (1920×1080) 165Hz 3ms 300cd/m² (0.3 W/m²) 100% sRGB AMD FreeSync G-Sync+Optimus, or IPS Full HD 360Hz 1ms 300cd/m² 100% sRGB AMD FreeSync G-Sync+Optimus or IPS 4K Ultra HD (3840×2160) 120Hz 3ms 500cd/m² (0.5 lcd/m²) 100% AdobeRGB AMD FreeSync + AMD SmartAccess.
Above the screen is a 720p HD webcam, with an optional 360Hz and 4K webcam available. infrared webcam forbiometric authentication using facial recognition via Windows Hello technology.
There are also loudspeakers and a RGB backlit chiclet keyboard 1 AlienFX zone as standard (1.8mm stroke) or backlit as an option RGB per key N-Key Rollover or CherryMX mechanical keyboard with switches backlit by N-Key Rollover button.
Note theno numeric keypadThis is a rare feature in this format, even though it is standard on 15-inch models.

The new Alienware m17 R5 multimedia notebook aimed at gamers weighs in at 3.3 Kg and measures 397.3 x 298.71 x 14.62-.26.7 mm. It adopts a Dark Side of the Moon design and runs under Windows 11 with high-capacity 64Whr Li-Ion battery as standard 97Whr optional.
Dell informs us that its Alienware m17 R5 will be available during the spring 2022 from $1,599.
His little brother Alienware m15 R7 to the more compact 15 inches is also scheduled for spring, starting at $1,499.
Although Dell has not yet announced its specifications, they should be close to those of the 17-inch edition.
